De militaire dienstplicht bestaat nog in 18 Europese landen.

Gewetensbezwaar tegen militaire dienstplicht is een mensenrecht.

Gewetensbezwaarden worden beschermd door mensenrechten-

verdragen en -mechanismen maar er zijn frequent inbreuken op hun rechten en ze worden vaak vervolgd.
